Hotegni Daniel Dansou
Hotegni Daniel Dansou (b. 1986, Benin) is a visual artist based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Working across painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation, his practice engages with questions of identity, history, and collective memory.
Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Versailles and later at the University of Paris Vincennes–Saint-Denis, where he studied philosophy and art education, Dansou’s multidisciplinary approach reflects a continuous dialogue between thought, material, and form.
His installations often integrate found materials, archival imagery, and symbolic objects, creating spaces that blur the boundaries between personal and shared narratives. Through these immersive environments, he explores the ways in which histories are constructed, forgotten, or reimagined, particularly within postcolonial and diasporic contexts.
Hotegni’s work invites viewers to reconsider the visible and invisible structures that shape human experience. His ongoing research into pictorial and archival histories informs his visual language, which merges abstraction, figuration, and conceptual inquiry. His works have been exhibited internationally and are held in several private collections.
